With more than thirty museums, Málaga has reinvented itself as a cultural heavyweight. Its most famous son, Pablo Picasso, anchors a scene that now includes a Pompidou outpost and a Thyssen collection.

Several of the best are free year-round, and the big names offer free hours each week.
