The Best Time to Visit Málaga (Month by Month)

By Lucía Romero·May 18, 2026 7 min

Málaga is one of the warmest cities in mainland Europe, and you can have a wonderful trip in any month. But the experience changes a lot between the quiet, almond-blossom days of February and the roaring August feria.

Spring (March–May) is arguably the sweet spot: warm days in the low-to-mid 20s°C, long light evenings, fewer crowds and a string of festivals including the world-famous Semana Santa processions.

Summer (June–September) is beach season. July and August are hot (30°C+) and busy, especially during the Feria de Málaga in mid-August — a spectacular nine-day street party, but not the time for a relaxed city break.

Autumn (October–November) brings warm sea temperatures, golden light and far fewer visitors. It is our favourite season for combining beach time with sightseeing.

Winter (December–February) is mild and sunny, perfect for museums, tapas and the dazzling Christmas lights on Calle Larios. You can often have lunch outdoors in shirtsleeves.
